The vision of Sport NL is as follows:

“A professional organization that is central to the development and delivery of organized sport in Newfoundland and Labrador.”

The mission of Sport NL is as follows:

“In partnership with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, provide administrative and communications support, as well as program development and training support, for all parties engaged in the delivery of organized sport in Newfoundland and Labrador.”

Guiding Principles

Sport NL is guided by the following five principles:

Participation: Sport NL will work (at the grass roots level) with its members to make organized sporting activities available, accessible and age appropriate to as many Newfoundlanders and Labradorians as possible – particularly in the less serviced areas of our province.

Inclusion: Sport NL will work to help ensure that all children in NL receive a chance to participate in at least one organized sporting activity annually.

Excellence: Sport NL will strive to ensure that it is an integral part of the delivery system for Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD). This integration will be such that it will allow as many of the participants in organized sport throughout NL achieve their long-term goals in sport.

Healthy and Active Living: Sport NL will promote organized sport as a means to increase personal wellness and contribute to a healthy and active lifestyle.

Physical Literacy: Sport NL will work with its members to ensure Newfoundlanders and Labradorians are equipped with the skills, abilities and confidence to participate in a wide range of physical activities in a variety of environments.
