John Hall - Builder

John Hall has been a Director of Badminton Canada for 15 years. During that span, from 1981-84, he also served as Vice-President Finance and Treasurer. John has been Treasurer for Badminton Newfoundland and Labrador on eight different executives and he is currently in his eighth term as President of the provincial association.

Hall was the provincial badminton coach from 1974 to 1989. He coached in four consecutive Canada Winter Games from 1975 to 1989. Whether it be as an administrator, coach or official Hall has unselfishly devoted himself to the promotion and development of badminton.

Tennis also benefitted from the leadership of John Hall. He was the first President of the St. John’s Indoor Tennis Club (1974) and the first President of the Green Belt Tennis Club (1978). He has been recognized as an Honorary Life Member of both organizations. He was Technical Director of tennis for the 1977 Canada Summer Games. Up until 1987 John was the only Course Conductor for Level 1 and 2 Tennis in the province. Again John did not limit his involvement to that of coach and umpire but continued to develop tennis as President of the NLTA from 1980 to 1982.

John Hall’s ability to lead and desire to serve has enhanced the development of both tennis and badminton in Newfoundland and Labrador.
