Sport Newfoundland and Labrador (SportNL) and Recreation NL are pleased to announce a new partnership for 2026, bringing the two organizations together to deliver events, programming, and resources to the sport and recreation community throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to fostering inclusive, accessible, and sustainable opportunities for participation in sport and recreation across the province. By combining expertise and networks, SportNL and Recreation NL aim to better support athletes, coaches, volunteers, and community leaders.
“This partnership with Recreation NL is an exciting step forward in strengthening sport and recreation across our province,” says Troy Croft, Executive Director of SportNL. “By working together, we can broaden our reach and combine our resources to have a more meaningful impact in our communities.”
“Recreation NL is proud to be collaborating with SportNL to strengthen the delivery of recreation and sport opportunities across Newfoundland and Labrador,” says Steve Martin, Executive Director of Recreation NL. “This partnership is especially meaningful as we bring professional development opportunities to Labrador—something we haven’t had the chance to do in a number of years. We’re excited to reconnect with communities in the region and work alongside our counterparts to share best practices, build capacity, and support recreation professionals in delivering high-quality programs that enhance the well-being of Labradorians.”
As part of this partnership, SportNL and Recreation NL will co-host an upcoming community engagement visit to Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Labrador in June. During this visit, both organizations will connect with local stakeholders and present in area schools, introducing students to the role and benefits of sport and recreation, and highlighting opportunities for involvement.
In addition, SportNL is pleased to announce that Recreation NL will partner on the annual SportNL Summit, taking place November 14, 2026. This collaboration will elevate the summit experience by offering a broader and more diverse range of sessions, speakers, and learning opportunities for attendees from across the province.
Together, SportNL and Recreation NL look forward to building stronger, healthier communities through sport and recreation in 2026 and beyond.
