CoachingNL, a program of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador, is excited to launch a program to help reduce the cost for coaches and officials to complete courses, certifications and training in the province.

The Coaches and Officials Development Funding Program provides eligible coaches and officials with up to $500 per 12-month period toward approved development expenses.

Coaches and Officials Development Funding Program Highlights

Coaches and officials can qualify to receive financial support that assists their growth and development. This is a first-of-its-kind development opportunity for Newfoundland and Labrador officials.

Training that occurs in the province, or that is completed in the province, can be eligible for funding through the program. For example, a coach completing a sport-specific online course at home or attending an in-person seminar in a local community may now be eligible to receive funding to help offset the cost of training.

Coaching NL will continue to assist coaches who need to travel outside the province to receive sport specific National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) certifications. Funding is also available to support provincial sport organizations to bring out-of-province experts to deliver sport-specific NCCP opportunities.

Examples of Eligible Development Opportunities

• NCCP courses and recognized professional development.
• Coaching certifications and education.
• Officiating courses, certifications, and development opportunities.
• Other approved training or educational programs.

Eligibility Requirements

• Be a resident of Newfoundland and Labrador.
• Be an active coach or official.
• Be a member of a provincial sport organization in good standing.
• Obtain an endorsement from your provincial sport organization.
