Meet The Speakers


Dr. Tina Atkinson

Dr. Tina Atkinson is a sport and exercise medicine physician and is currently the Chief Medical Officer for the Professional Women’s Hockey League. She was the team lead physician for the Halifax Mooseheads for 13 seasons and was the team physician for Hockey Canada’s Women’s national team at the 2021 Worlds, 2022 Beijing Olympics and 2023 Worlds. She is a founding member of Concussion Nova Scotia which is an interdisciplinary group working to improve the diagnosis, education, and management of concussion in Nova Scotia. 


Will Russell

Will Russell is a sport lawyer with an extensive background acting as a strategic and legal advisory to Canadian sport organizations. He has played a leading role in governance modernization and Sport Integrity work across the country, designing sport integrity systems for multiple national, provincial and territorial sport federations, including co-authoring the Canadian Olympic Committee’s national conduct standard. Will completed the International Olympic Committee’s Safeguarding Officer in Sport certificate and continues to engage with leading national and international efforts on advancing comprehensive efforts to safeguard sport.
