The Newfoundland and Labrador Sports Hall of Fame will be celebrating a milestone in 2023, marking 50 years of sports history in our province!! To celebrate the 50th Annual Newfoundland and Labrador Sports Hall of Fame will hold the Induction Ceremony on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at The Rooms with a reception beginning at 6:30 p.m. and dinner scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.

We look forward to celebrating the newest Inductees at the 50th Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony! Class 2023 Inductees joining the Newfoundland and Labrador Sports Hall of Fame during the event are:

  • Charlie Babstock in the “Athlete” category (Hockey, Soccer)
  • Eric Easton in the “Athlete/Builder” category (Racquetball)
  • Donald Howse in the “Athlete” category (Hockey)
  • Mary Oakley in the “Veteran/Athlete” category (Softball, Rowing, Soccer)
  • Jean (Lake) Thompson in the “Builder” category (Soccer)
  • Suraj P. Wadhawan in the “Athlete” category (Badminton)

Members of the Newfoundland and Labrador Sports Hall of Fame and the general public who wish to attend the 50th Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony are asked to contact the Sport Newfoundland and Labrador office by telephone at (709) 576-4932 or by email at sportnl@sportnl.ca to order and reserve tickets. A limited number of dinner tickets are available. We would ask that you make your ticket arrangements with the office prior to September 22, 2023.

It aims to recognize, honour, and pay tribute to exceptional individuals who have made considerable contributions to the provinces sporting community through their playing ability, sportsmanship, and character.
